Carol Kaye Wins 2nd Annual Maryland Million Art Contest

Maryland breeder Carol Kaye is the winner of the 2nd Annual Maryland Million Art Contest. The piece, titled, "Celebrating a Maryland Million Win," is an oil painting on canvas inspired by a celebration with friends after a win on Jim McKay Maryland Million Day.

The horse depicted in the painting, Phlash Phelps, was bred by Carol Kaye and runs in the colors of Ellen Charles' Hillwood Stables (trained by Rodney Jenkins). Phlash Phelps took home the 2015 and 2016 editions of the Maryland Million Turf and has managed to hit the board in 12 of his 17 starts to date (7-3-2).

This is the first art contest that Kaye has entered since she started taking classes and she was thrilled to win. Her piece will be used for the cover of the Maryland Million Gala invitation and program.
