Maryland-Bred Race Fund to pay additional 2025 bonuses

The Maryland-Bred Race Fund will be distributing supplemental bonuses to breeders and stallion owners who were paid bonus money last year.
Following the Maryland-Bred Race Fund year-end reconciliation, a surplus was identified from the 2025 program year. The additional funds will be awarded to those breeders and stallion owners who were paid bonuses in 2025.

“After a recommendation from the Maryland Fund Advisory Committee, the Maryland Racing Commission recently approved using a 2025 surplus
Maryland-Bred Race Fund to pay additional 2025 bonuses in the Maryland-Bred Race Fund to pay to breeders and stallions that earned bonus money last year,” said Richie Blue, president of the Maryland Horse
Breeders Association.”This surplus is a one-time occurrence and, coming as it does during this breeding season, it is a good opportunity for breeders to supplement their plans. Keep in mind more graded stakes horses are foaled in March and April.”

Eligible breeders and stallion owners will receive their additional bonuses by the end of April. Payments will be issued by the Maryland-Bred Race Fund, administered by the Maryland Horse Breeders Association.

These additional bonuses are separate from, and in addition to, the standard bonus structure and are made possible by the 2025 surplus. Bonus distributions of this type are contingent on program fund performance in any given year.
